Old pipes meant rusty water. This caught most of it. Simple, cheap, works.
We get a lot of sand from the borewell. Fitted this in the tank housing and the difference in the water is obvious. Rinse it once a week.
Was worried about size but it fit my Big Blue housing exactly. Traps a lot of silt after the rains.
Does what it says. Reusable is the best part - no need to keep buying cartridges. Takes a minute to clean.

Micron Water Tank Filter Bag – Traps Dirt, Sand & Rust · 2 Pack

Frequently Asked Questions
It acts as a primary barrier before your water tank, using a 5-micron mesh to trap sand, silt, rust, and dirt particles so they never reach your taps.
It is designed specifically for standard 20-inch Big Blue overhead-tank filter housings (20" × 4"). Please check your housing dimensions before ordering.
This depends entirely on your water quality. Most users rinse it every few weeks, but if you notice the water flow slowing down, it’s time for a quick clean.
Open your 20-inch Big Blue housing, remove the old cartridge, slide the new filter bag in so it lines the walls (opening at the top), and close the housing tightly.

A closer look
Catches what your eyes miss
Borewell sand, post-monsoon silt and rust flakes off old municipal pipes all settle in your tank and taps. The 5-micron mesh traps them at the source.

Drops into your existing housing
Sized for standard 20-inch Big Blue overhead-tank housings. No new plumbing - slot it in and you're filtering.

Reusable - not a monthly expense
When it loads up with sediment, rinse it out and put it back. One bag replaces a stack of disposable cartridges.

Product details
Everything your water supply carries in — sand from the borewell, silt after the monsoon, rust flakes off old municipal pipes — ends up settling on the floor of your overhead tank. From there it works its way into every tap, geyser and washing machine in the house.
This bag ties onto the inlet pipe inside the tank, so the sediment is caught at the point where the water arrives rather than cleaned up afterwards.
How it works
The slotted cap clamps around the inlet pipe and the fabric bag hangs below it inside the tank. Water passes through the 5 micron non-woven fabric; sand, silt, mud and rust particles do not. When the fabric turns visibly brown, untie it, rinse the sediment out, let it dry and put it back.
What it does not do
This is a sediment filter, not a purifier. It removes suspended solids. It does not remove bacteria, viruses or dissolved chemicals, and it does not make water safe to drink on its own — you still need an RO or UV purifier for drinking water. We would rather say that here than have you find out later.

Frequently Asked Questions
It acts as a primary barrier before your water tank, using a 5-micron mesh to trap sand, silt, rust, and dirt particles so they never reach your taps.
No. It is a physical sediment filter. While it significantly improves water clarity for bathing and washing, it is not a substitute for an RO/UV purifier for drinking water.
Yes. Unlike disposable cartridges, this mesh bag is designed to be taken out, rinsed clean of accumulated sediment, and put straight back into the housing.
The 5-micron mesh is fine enough to trap extremely small particles, including fine borewell sand, post-monsoon silt, and pipe rust.
